Urban Krav Maga is a reality based self-defence system drawing on:
Various Krav Maga Systems, Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Traditional Jiu Jitsu, Aikido, Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, Vale Tudo and MMA.

The Urban Krav Maga core syllabus contains a range of techniques that are also applicable to female self-defence, grappling (stand-up and on the ground), fighting/sparring techniques and weapons defences.

Urban Krav Maga is constantly updated to reflect the most common attacks that you may encounter.

The Ten Most Common Street Attacks

The base syllabus covers the 10 most commonly reported styles of street attacks.

  1. One person pushes, hands to chest, which is normally followed by the pushee striking first, to the head.
  2. A swinging punch to the head.
  3. A front clothing grab, one handed, followed by punch to the head.
  4. A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a head butt.
  5. A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a knee to the groin.
  6. A bottle, glass, or ashtray to the head.
  7. A lashing kick to groin/lower legs.
  8. A broken bottle/glass jabbed to face.
  9. A slash with knife, most commonly a 3 to 4″ lock blade knife or kitchen utility knife.
  10. A grappling style head lock.

This is based on information supplied by Law Enforcement; instructors will set up scenarios for students that mirror the top 10 street attacks; students will be taught to understand the dynamics of the situation as well as the techniques that can be used to deal with them.
